People-First Product Leadership

Leading product teams is not easy, even when market dynamics are trending up. During uncertain times, the coaching and mentoring techniques of product leaders increases in importance. It’s time to double down on emotional intelligence and creating a safe space, especially for experimentation. Even though it may seem counterintuitive, often the best innovations come during a time of constraint when there is a laser focus on learnings as a path to impact.

All my experiences led me to create People-First Product Leadership. Why People-First Product Leadership? When defining my leadership style, a colleague referenced I put my team first, created a safe space and ensured they had all opportunities to shine. What I do is treat my team as people first and foremost, as I would expect and like to be treated. Thus the title of my course and this newsletter, People-First Product Leadership.

It’s rare you’ll meet a Silicon Valley native - and I’m one of them. My background includes leading teams in startups (E.piphany, Cheapflights - bought by Kayak, and SimplePractice), enterprise organizations (Salesforce, Monster, Pearson), digital agencies (Razorfish, part of Publicis) and software consulting (Epsilon, E.piphany). All in all, I have over 15+ years of international product leadership experience running diverse global digital teams.

On the education side, I have a MIMS from UC Berkeley and an MBA from Boston University. I love connecting the dots between information, people, teams, and organizations and coaching individuals through their product leadership journey.
